Drill Teams

Posted by Saddle Up on Dec 12th 2018

Horse events wouldn’t be the same without drill teams! Drill teams consistent of twelve or more riders who perform on horseback at various horse events and rodeos. Most of the time they carry flags and they always wear matching uniforms. The team puts their horses through a series of patterns, usually accompanied by music.

Drill teams are incredibly fun to watch and participate in! There are many people who form drill teams for either fun or to perform at local events. Your horse will need to be trained to respond to light cues at the trot and canter and be willing to work calmly around other horses in order to participate safely in a drill team.

Joining a drill team is a great opportunity to improve you and your horse’s skills as well as learn to work with other riders, make new friends, and have fun!
